To speak on
Talkshoe and be part of the WORLDMIKEL webcasts for free, you need to
DOWNLOAD and
INSTALL a SIP VoIP software phone program. These are 3 softphones we
recommend:
GET THE HELP
THAT YOU NEED HERE:
X-lite installation -
VUC_Host Randy has directions for accessing his cast with
SIP clients:
http://www.randulo.com/tw/
Hansen has done a nice
step-by-step with screen shots for Gizmo:

GUESSED
has comprehensive directions on his TalkShoe page at the DESCRIPTION.
To reveal the entire written description, click "MORE" at the end of
the DESCRIPTION: http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/28905

Skypecast
refugee
(Teacher Monkey)
has posted detailed directions and links to his casts: http://learnitanddoit.com
SOME
INSTALLATION TIPS:
After you have it installed, click "EDIT"
at
the
top of the main window. Select "OPTIONS"
and then "Advanced" on the new
panel that
pops up.
"DTMF Tones" are in the default
as
"Automatic". You'll want to choose "In-band",
then click "OK".
To call-in to the TalkShoe cast, click the
Dialpad tab to have the Keypad accessible.
Then put this string in the blank next to the
telephone icons:
talkshoe@66.212.134.192
When they answer, they'll want you to dial-in
the "CALL ID" and the "#".
The
current
CALL ID for the cast would be put in like this:
26635#
Then they'll ask for your TalkShoe
10-digit PIN number
that
you gave to
TalkShoe when you downloaded and installed
"TalkShoe Live Pro".
You enter
that followed
by the "#" and
you're
connected to the cast.
This is a little complicated, but it is still not
brain surgery or rocket science. It appears to
be worth the effort to install it.
You could
also try SJ Phone:
We've found this version works best:
SJphone
for
MS
Windows XPsp2/2000sp4, v.1.60.289a, 06.19.05
Some have had good luck with the
latest versions for Windows, Mac and other OS:

X-lite is a SIP softphone that
is free from Counterpath:
http://www.counterpath.com/x-lite.html
Other SIP phone software is listed with
links at Wikipedia:
Our WORLDMIKEL Skypecast
refugees
have washed ashore and pitched a tent
at TalkShoe.
After some relatively good success and the
help of GUESSED, Kouji,
Englishka,
Samuel, Jellybean and others, we've
become gifted amateurs at how to connect
and get some reasonable sound quality
on TalkShoe.
You can easily come to listen from the
widget on the WORLDMIKEL home page
or go direct to this address:
http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/26635
TalkShoe has provided some directions:
Step-By-Step
TalkShoe
Instructions
http://www.talkshoe.com/blog/index.php/welcome-former-skypecasters-talkshoe-step-by-step-instructions.html
Remember Skype's terrible Heartbeat page?
TalkShoe has a good method to report STATUS:
http://www.talkshoe.com/blog/index.php/talkshoe-system-status.html
To participate and assure you'll be heard
with reasonable audio quality, you should
use the various directions to install a SIP
client.
This assumes that you've installed
"TalkShoe Live Pro" here:
http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/tscmd/download/1
which should be self-explanatory.
The "Shoe Phone" inside the
"TalkShoe Live Pro" window
doesn't
work so well. The text chat and other functions
work well enough, but for voice, that part lacks
quality. To workaround this, we've had
success installing the previously talked
about SIP VOIP programs.
See you on TALKSHOE!
